Dysport®
A Natural-Looking Treatment for Frown Lines
Dysport is a prescription injectable treatment used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, sometimes called glabellar lines or "11s."
Dysport temporarily reduces activity in the muscles responsible for these lines, allowing the area between the eyebrows to appear smoother.
Some patients begin noticing improvement within several days after treatment.
Dysport and BOTOX are different products with different formulations and dosing systems. Their units are not interchangeable. Our provider will evaluate facial movement, anatomy, previous injectable experience, and treatment goals to help determine which option may be appropriate.

What's the Difference?

Restore Structure While Supporting Collagen Production
RADIESSE is different from traditional hyaluronic acid fillers. It contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel carrier.
RADIESSE provides structural support while also supporting the body's natural production of collagen and elastin over time.
RADIESSE may help improve:
- Moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds
- Nasolabial folds

- Volume loss in the backs of the hands
RADIESSE may be an appropriate choice when the goal is to improve facial structure and support rather than simply add soft volume. Our provider will determine whether RADIESSE is appropriate based on the patient's anatomy and goals.
Sculptra® by Galderma
Collagen-Stimulating Facial Rejuvenation
At Elite Laser Center & Med Spa in Stony Brook, Sculptra offers a gradual approach to improving selected facial wrinkles and changes associated with collagen loss.
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, known as PLLA-SCA. It helps stimulate your own collagen production, supporting the skin's structure and a smoother, firmer-looking appearance over time. Galderma describes this approach as biostimulation.
Unlike Botox and Dysport, Sculptra does not work by relaxing facial muscles. Unlike hyaluronic acid gels such as Restylane, its principal benefit develops gradually through collagen stimulation rather than immediate gel-based volume.
Where Can Sculptra Be Used?
Following an individual assessment, facial concerns that may be considered include:
- Cheek wrinkles: fine lines and wrinkles across the cheek region.
- Nasolabial folds: the smile lines running from the sides of the nose toward the corners of the mouth.
- Marionette lines: lines extending downward from the corners of the mouth.
- Chin wrinkles: selected wrinkles affecting the chin.
Galderma also reports that cheek treatment may improve the appearance of jawline definition. This does not make Sculptra a fat-reduction procedure or a substitute for a surgical lift. Your provider determines the appropriate treatment areas and injection sites. Sculptra is not used to enlarge the lips and should not be injected around the eyes.

When Will I See Results, and How Long Do They Last?
Sculptra works gradually. Galderma reports that changes can become noticeable as early as one month, with improvement developing as the treatment response progresses.
Results may last up to two years, or approximately 24 months. The degree and duration of improvement vary. This is not a promise that one appointment will produce two years of results, and treatment does not stop the aging process.
Your consultation should establish realistic expectations and explain whether follow-up or maintenance treatment may be appropriate.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Galderma describes an average of two to three treatment sessions over several months. Your actual plan may differ depending on your assessment, response, and goals.
We will explain the proposed number of visits, spacing, and amount of product before treatment. More product is not automatically better, and a fixed number of vials should not be assumed for every person.
What About Recovery and Aftercare?
Swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness, pain, itching, or bleeding can occur after injections. Small bumps or larger nodules may also develop, sometimes after a delay.
Follow your injector's written aftercare instructions. Galderma's guidance includes the "5-5-5" massage routine: five minutes, five times daily, for five days, as directed by your treating provider.
Massage only the areas your provider identifies. Do not apply Sculptra aftercare automatically to other injectable treatments performed at the same visit.
Discuss important events and other planned skin treatments before scheduling so recovery and treatment spacing can be considered.
Is Sculptra Right for Me?
Sculptra requires assessment by an appropriately trained, licensed healthcare professional. It is not suitable for everyone.
Tell your provider about severe allergies, previous reactions to injectable products, a tendency to form keloids or thick raised scars, medications, immune-system conditions, and previous facial treatments. Active inflammation or infection at the proposed treatment site must be addressed before injection.
Safety has not been established during pregnancy or breastfeeding or in people younger than 18.
In addition to local reactions and nodules, accidental injection into a blood vessel can cause rare but serious complications, including tissue damage, vision impairment or blindness, and stroke.
