Med Spa Technology in Stony Brook: Choosing the Right Treatment for Your Goals
Laser, radiofrequency, controlled cooling, microcurrent—med spa technology can sound complicated before you understand what each treatment is designed to do. The most useful question is not “Which machine is newest?” It is “Which approach makes sense for my concern?”
At Elite Laser Center & Med Spa in Stony Brook, NY, we offer different technologies for unwanted hair, localized fat, muscle tone, skin firmness, and skin quality. Our approach begins with understanding your goals, reviewing treatment suitability, and explaining the options—not assuming one device can address everything.
What Med Spa Technology Actually Means
Med spa technology includes devices, professional skin treatments, and injectable products used to address specific cosmetic concerns. Different treatments act on different targets: hair follicles, fat, muscles, the skin’s surface, or deeper tissue.
That distinction matters. A treatment designed to reduce fat does not automatically tighten loose skin. A facial that improves hydration is not a substitute for treating volume loss. And two treatments described as “skin rejuvenation” may involve very different procedures and recovery.
Your skin characteristics, medical history, current products, previous treatments, and available recovery time help determine the appropriate approach. Understanding those differences makes it easier to compare options and set realistic expectations.
The Technology Behind Treatments at Elite
Laser Hair Removal: Lumenis LightSheer and Alma Soprano
Elite offers laser hair removal using Lumenis LightSheer and Alma Soprano. Both target pigment associated with hair follicles to reduce future growth, but they use different approaches to energy delivery.
Having two platforms gives our providers options when assessing your skin tone, hair characteristics, treatment area, and previous response. It does not mean every person is suitable for every laser or that one device is universally better than the other.
Hair grows in stages, so treatment is planned as a series rather than a single appointment. Our three-year Elite Laser Hair Removal Package includes nine initial paid treatments, plus up to nine additional follow-up treatments at no additional charge when needed during the package period.
This is a defined treatment-and-follow-up program—not a guarantee that every hair will disappear permanently. Individual response and future maintenance needs vary.
CoolSculpting Elite: Controlled Cooling for Localized Fat
CoolSculpting Elite uses controlled cooling to reduce suitable pockets of fat beneath the skin. It is a body-contouring treatment, not a weight-loss program or a substitute for removing substantial excess skin.
The consultation identifies whether the concern involves treatable fat, loose skin, or something requiring a different assessment. Applicator placement and treatment coverage are then planned around your anatomy.
Elite offers eight treatment-area categories: the abdomen, flanks, thighs, upper arms, bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks, and under the chin. We do not offer CoolSculpting under the jawline. Your written plan defines the exact coverage within a selected package area.
Changes develop gradually. Temporary discomfort, swelling, bruising, or altered sensation can occur. A less common but important complication is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, in which treated fat enlarges rather than decreases and may require surgery. Medical screening and a discussion of the full risks are essential.
CoolTone: Muscle Toning, Not Fat Reduction
CoolTone uses magnetic muscle stimulation to strengthen, tone, and firm muscles in the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs.
It addresses a different goal from CoolSculpting. CoolTone is not a fat-reduction or weight-loss treatment, and it is not automatically included in the CoolSculpting Elite Body Transformation Package.
Your provider should explain the proposed treatment series, expected response, possible side effects, and any maintenance recommendations. Do not assume that having several technologies available means you need all of them.
RF Microneedling: A Different Approach to Skin Texture
For appropriate texture and rejuvenation concerns, Elite offers RF microneedling with the Lumenis Legend platform. This approach uses fine electrodes and radiofrequency energy to create a controlled treatment response. It is different from noninvasive RF delivered through a handpiece resting on the skin.
Results can develop over time as the skin responds. The procedure, recovery, and expected improvement depend on the selected treatment and individual assessment.
RF microneedling is a medical procedure, not simply a stronger facial. Alongside temporary reactions, serious complications have been reported, including burns, scarring, fat loss, and nerve damage. Your provider should review the relevant benefits, risks, and alternatives before you decide.
Skin Tightening and Facial Toning: Three Distinct Options
Our skin-tightening and facial-toning services include three technologies with different methods of treatment.
Lumenis Legend TriPollar Surface RF
TriPollar delivers radiofrequency energy through a surface applicator to provide controlled tissue heating. This is the noninvasive RF option on our Legend platform, separate from its RF microneedling treatment.
ThermiSmooth Facial Radiofrequency
ThermiSmooth uses a temperature-controlled handpiece moved over the skin in small circular motions. At Elite, ThermiSmooth is offered for facial treatments only. We discuss suitability, comfort, and recovery individually.
NeurotriS SX-3800 Facial Microcurrent
Our NeurotriS SX-3800 Facial System uses low-level electrical currents for facial toning. It is not a laser, radiofrequency treatment, or fat-reduction device. Elite’s service is facial microcurrent treatment—not a body-treatment program.
The choice depends on your concern and assessment. These options should not be presented as equivalent to a surgical lift or as interchangeable ways to obtain identical results.
HydraFacial and DiamondGlow: Different Technologies for Professional Skincare
HydraFacial combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration using Vortex-Fusion technology. Treatment can be personalized for concerns such as dryness, dullness, and congested pores.
DiamondGlow combines diamond-tip exfoliation, extraction, and the infusion of selected SkinMedica Pro-Infusion Serums. It provides a different approach to resurfacing and improving the appearance of skin quality.
Neither treatment is automatically the better choice for everyone. Your provider considers your skin, current products, previous reactions, and goals. Enhancements and treatment combinations should be selected deliberately rather than added simply to make an appointment more intensive.
Dermalux LED and Professional Peels
Elite also offers Dermalux Tri-Wave MD LED light therapy, which delivers selected wavelengths of light without exfoliating the skin’s surface. The wavelength and treatment protocol depend on the intended purpose and individual assessment.
For resurfacing concerns, our chemical peel options include VI Peel formulations and SkinMedica professional peels. These work differently from LED treatment and have their own preparation and recovery requirements. Some involve visible peeling, so timing matters when planning around an event.
Botox, Dysport, and Dermal Fillers
Not every aesthetic treatment depends on a machine. Product selection, anatomy, and injection technique also matter.
Our Botox, Dysport, and dermal filler services address different concerns. Botox and Dysport temporarily reduce selected muscle activity associated with certain expression lines. Dermal fillers can address selected volume and contour concerns, depending on the product and treatment area.
Botox and Dysport are different prescription products; their units are not interchangeable. Fillers also differ in composition and intended use. Your consultation should explain which product is proposed, why it is appropriate, and its benefits, limitations, and risks.
Understand What Your Treatment Price Includes
A useful price comparison considers more than the cost of one appointment. Ask what area is covered, how many visits are planned, whether follow-up treatment is included, and what may carry an additional charge.
CoolSculpting Elite Body Transformation Package
Our area-based package pricing is:
- First selected area: $3,900.
- Second selected area: an additional $3,500.
- Third and each additional selected area: an additional $2,900.
The package includes three planned visits per selected area, with two to four applicator cycles per area per visit as appropriate under the provider-approved plan. A visit is an appointment; a cycle is one applicator application. The maximum number of cycles is not automatic.
Visits are planned at six-week intervals, subject to assessment. All selected areas share a 150-day completion window beginning with the first package treatment. This is a treatment-completion deadline, not a guarantee of final results by that date.
Review the full CoolSculpting package details for coverage and current terms.
Skincare Club Membership
Our Skincare Club includes one HydraFacial each month for $99 per month. Members may replace that month’s included HydraFacial with DiamondGlow for an additional $120.
The upgrade replaces the included service; it does not provide two separate treatments. Optional enhancements carry additional charges. Other procedures and treatment packages are priced separately.
Why FDA Status and Provider Qualifications Matter
FDA clearance and FDA approval are different regulatory pathways. A claim should identify the particular device or product and the use it applies to—not imply that every service at a practice has the same status.
Neither term means that a treatment is risk-free, appropriate for everyone, or guaranteed to produce a particular result. You can learn more in the FDA’s explanation of what “FDA approved” means.
Ask who will perform your procedure, what qualifications and device-specific training they have, and how questions or complications are handled. A consultation should cover relevant medical history, medications, allergies, implants, previous procedures, and factors that may affect healing or treatment suitability.
Risks vary by procedure. Fillers, for example, can cause bruising and swelling but also have less common, serious risks, including tissue injury and vision complications if unintentionally injected into a blood vessel. A broad article cannot replace the informed-consent discussion for the treatment you are considering.
Choose the Technology Around the Concern
Start by describing what you want to improve and how much change you expect. Unwanted hair, localized fat, muscle tone, skin texture, laxity, and facial volume are different concerns—even when they affect the same area.
Ask what the proposed treatment can realistically change, what it cannot address, how many appointments may be needed, and whether your schedule allows appropriate recovery. Request the complete price and clarify any follow-up or maintenance recommendations.
A plan may involve more than one service, but each should have a clear purpose. More treatments do not automatically mean a better outcome, and combining procedures requires appropriate assessment and scheduling.
Results Depend on the Plan, Not Just the Device
The name of a machine is only part of the decision. A useful treatment plan connects the technology to your actual concern, explains its limitations, and gives you a clear understanding of preparation, recovery, cost, and follow-up.
At Elite Laser Center & Med Spa, our goal is to help you understand those choices before you commit. Whether you are exploring long-term hair reduction, body contouring, facial toning, or professional skincare, the starting point is an individual conversation.
