What is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy has a wide range of applications. Elite Laser Hair is conducting a medical research study utilizing a cold laser to stimulate specific acupuncture points. Low level laser is being studied in the U.S. to determine if it boosts the release of endorphins and serotonin (Kaada, B and Eilson O, 1983, Kaada Olsen and Eilson, 1985), thereby reducing or eliminating the cravings and withdrawal symptoms normally associated with quitting smoking.

Is Laser Therapy Safe?

Low Level Laser Light Therapy works by stimulating a cell’s natural metabolism. The effects are biochemical, not thermal, and therefore cannot damage living cells (Karu, 1998, 1999, 2002). Low level lasers have been ruled “non-significant risk” devices by FDA, and are non-invasive and drug-free. Our clinic environment is relaxing and comfortable, and the laser session itself takes about an hour.

Is It Guaranteed?

Low Level Laser Therapy may help individuals physically cope with symptoms associated with quitting smoking. The low-level laser does not take away your psychological addiction to nicotine. Each individual has a unique level to his/her addiction, so laser therapy cannot be guaranteed. We will work closely with each individual to support you in your goals.

Is the Laser Research Study for Smoking Covered by Medical Insurance?

Laser Therapy for smoking cessation is not eligible for heatlh insurance coverage. However, you will find the program affordable. Consider that a pack-a-day smoker spends approximately $3,000 - $3,400 annually on cigarettes; the cost of laser sessions is a fraction of a typical persons annual cigarette expenditures.

How many treatments are needed to stop smoking?

The very first treatment should alleviate the cravings associated with smoking and nicotine addiction. Follow up treatments are recommended on day 3, day 7 and day 14 to insure your success. Booster treatments can be done (at additional cost).

Is the treatment painful?

NO! It is a pain-free and relaxing procedure.

How does the treatment work?

Low level laser is absorbed and triggers the release of endorphins, making your body feel the same as if you had just had a cigarette.

What parts of the body are treated?

The parts of the body targeted by the laser are the ears, hands, wrist and forearm.

Will the craving for cigarettes come back?

For most people, the physical craving is gone. Of course, the mental/psychological aspects of your addiction must be broken as well. We are fortunate to be affiliated with a Certified, Licensed Hypnotherapist who will assist you in losing the psychological urge to smoke as well.

If I have a medical condition, can I still be treated?

We recommend that you consult your physician if you have any medical questions or concerns about a pre-existing condition. If you are pregnant, had a seizure within the last 6 months, or are on lithium, we are sorry but we cannot treat you.

Won't I gain weight when I quit smoking?

At Elite Laser Hair, we have a certified, licensed nutritionist, Barbara Ann Glover, available to set up a program to help you eat right so you won't gain weight. Also, there are areas on the stomach and legs which, when treated with the low level laser, help to suppress your appetite and thus prevent weight gain. We can combine this treatment with your smoking cessation treatment should you so choose.

Who will perform the laser treatment?

All treatments are done by a registered nurse who is also a certified laser technician.
