What are the 3 phases of hair growth?

How is laser hair removal different from electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to destroy them one at a time.Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. What are the other methods of removing hair?

Your skin type is based on the following:

- Type 5 very rarely burns and tans easily
- Type 6 does not burn and tans easily

What about the different hair types?

How many treatments do I need?
Hair growth goes through three growth phases: active growth (which represents 20% of all hair), regression and resting.The laser is most effective in the treatment of follicles that are in the active growth phase at which there is an abundance of melanin, which the laser targets.Since different hair is in different growth phases, more than one treatment may be required to remove hair follicles. People with skin types 1-4 need 6 treatments to maximally benefit from the laser hair treatment. People with skin types 5-6 need 10 treatments to maximally benefit from the laser hair treatment. The intervals between treatments are approximately 6 weeks.

Does the treatment hurt?

How is the appearance of the treated area after the treatment?
The appearance of the treated area immediately after the laser session will vary from client to client depending on the extent of the treatment and the skin type.Immediate after effects, if any, are minor.They may include redness and swelling, which disappears in a short time.Most people return to normal activity right away. Occasionally crusting or pigment changes, which are temporary, can develop.

Are there any pre-treatment restrictions?
Yes, the following should be avoided prior to treatment: The follicle beneath the skin contains the melanin that the laser targets; thus, waxing, plucking and electrolysis should be avoided for 3 weeks prior to treatments. Avoid sun tanning to the area treated. Discuss any skin diseases you might have.

Why does the hair sometimes look like its growing 1-3 weeks after laser treatment?
Laser destroys hair roots, which are active at the time of treatment, but do not remove hair shafts instantly.Hair shafts in the treated hair follicles will fall out mostly in the first week after treatment, with all the treated hairs falling out within 2-3 weeks. It is normal that some hairs in the treated areas may not fall within 2-3 weeks.These will be treated in the next session. These hairs, which are being shed, will come out on their own.It is best not to shave the treated area or wash it with anything but mild soap and your bare hands (no washcloths or body washes) for 3-4 days after laser treatment.This might cause the skin to get irritated.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
Usually you can return to work the same day and resume all your regular activities.To reduce the chance of uneven tanning in the treated areas, you should minimize sun exposure and tanning for a week or two after treatments. It is OK to resume shaving or clipping hair in the treated area after 3-4 days.You should NOT have waxing, plucking or electrolysis, because these temporarily remove pigmented hairs from the hair roots and reduce the effectiveness of your next laser treatment.Sometimes after plucking, waxing the hair will become thicker and darker, because one of the ways that the body defends itself from chronic irritation is to produce thicker, darker hairs. Shaving is really the best temporary way to remove unwanted hair before laser treatment and between laser treatments.Shaving leaves the hair shafts in the hair follicles, so the hair shaft can be a target for laser energy.

How does the 3-year written guarantee work?
If you choose to purchase the package of treatments, which includes 6 or 10 treatments depending on your skin type, then you are eligible for our 3-year written guarantee (some restrictions do apply). But we do offer monthly payment plans.
The 3-year written guarantee starts after your first treatment.In order for the guarantee to be in effect, you must perform all your treatments in your treatment package and never longer than an 8 week interval between treatments.
The guarantee is that if any hair re-grows in the area treated within 3 years of the first treatment you will be able to get additional treatments for free.

Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?
